Hiroshi Ishiguro

World-renowned robot scientist and robotics pioneer; Professor, Osaka University; Director of Hiroshi Ishiguro Laboratory at the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute

Through human-like robots, Professor Ishiguro is working to change the way we understand the world. His field of research is human-robot interaction, exploring how we can interweave robots into human society. His work also gets at the heart of the question, “What makes us human?”

Dr. Ishiguro’s research is recognized as one of the most promising and innovative bodies of research in artificial intelligence and robotics. More than 300 of his papers have been published in major journals and he has been featured in major news outlets including the BBC, CNN, USA Today, The New York Times and The Nikkei. Professor Ishiguro was selected one of the Top 100 living geniuses by Creators Synectics in 2007 and was a recipient of the “Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award” in 2015.
